The 2024 International Music Competition in Hong Kong and Asia invites musicians of all ages to demonstrate their musical talents on a global platform. This competition aims to foster cultural exchange and learning among musicians from diverse backgrounds.
This prestigious event provides a unique opportunity for musicians in Hong Kong and Asia to participate in an international music competition on home ground. Winners will have the chance to compete with talented musicians from around the world.
Musicians from Hong Kong and Asia, regardless of age or music genre (classical, jazz, pop, ethnic), are welcome to participate as instrumentalists, soloists, ensembles, choirs, or orchestras.

Infinite Possibilities
Champion participants will receive promotion as distinguished artists on a global music distribution platform, elevating their visibility and recognition in the industry. They will also have the chance to compete in events organized by the Concours de Musique et des Beaux Arts Canada, providing a platform for showcasing talents and engaging with musicians from diverse regions and backgrounds.
Winners will also have the opportunity to participate in charity music events, music exchanges, and other international concerts, which will provide them with more performance opportunities and public outreach, helping them achieve greater success and impact in the music industry.
All Music Genres
This music competition includes multiple competition types, instrument categories, and music genres, with participants grouped by age for the competition.
1) Solo performances
2) Duets, trios, quartets, ensembles, choirs, and orchestras.
Participants are invited to demonstrate their skills using a wide range of standard classical and orchestral instruments such as piano, strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, as well as traditional and ethnic instruments.
All music genres are welcomed in this competition, spanning classical, jazz, pop, and ethnic music. Contestants are provided with the platform to exhibit their musical abilities and proficiency across a variety of musical styles and performance formats.
Competition Format
The International Music Challenge is an online competition. Applicants are required to submit video recordings to participate in this competition. Winners have the opportunity to participate in a music competition held in Canada.

Instrument Selection
The competition welcomes a wide range of instruments, including but not limited to:
- Piano, Strings (Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass), Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Woodwinds, Brass, Harp, Accordion, Harmonica, Vocal, Organ, Electronic Piano, Percussion, Bagpipes, Other Traditional Instruments
We also accept traditional musical instruments from China or other countries, such as guqin, gu, erhu, pipa, dizi, sheng, etc.
Rubric
The judging panel will assess performances based on the following four criteria, with a scoring mechanism totaling 100 points:
1. Interpretation and Performance (25%)
2. Timbre (25%)
3. Technique (25%)
4. Artistry (25%)
The judging committee will assign scores according to the participants' performance, and the competition results will be determined by averaging the total scores from each judge.
Tournament Rankings
- Champion, Runner-up, and Third Runner-up: Awarded to the top three participants with the highest scores in each category
- Gold: 90 points or above
- Silver: 80 points or above
- Bronze: 70 points or above
- Merit Award: 60 points or above
Teaching Awards
- Professional Teaching Award: All mentors of winners with bronze awards or above will be awarded the Professional Teaching Award.
- International Music Competition Teaching Silver Award: Inviting five or more students to participate in each group event mentored by the instructor.
- International Music Competition Teaching Gold Award: Inviting ten or more students to participate in each group event mentored by the instructor.
- International Music Competition Educational Institution Grand Prize: Inviting ten or more students to participate in each group event from the school/educational center.

All winners will be awarded certificates, and the champion winner will be invited to participate in the Canada International Music Honor Competition.
*Duet entry fee: HK$680/RMB$620/US$85
*Ensemble group of three or more entry fee: $880/RMB$800/US$110
*Winners interested in obtaining a physical trophy must pay an additional fee:
- Trophy and Transcripts: HK$300 / RMB$270 / US$40
Winners are required to provide a photo and CV for publication on the Contest Organizer's website.

* Participants will be evaluated based on their respective age groups.
Video Requirements

Participants can submit their work links via YouTube or Google Drive, and when submitting the video link, please make sure the link is set to "Unlisted" (only those with the link can view).

Applicants are responsible for ensuring the video link is accessible. Failure to provide a valid link may lead to disqualification.

The video must clearly capture the performer's face, hands, and the entire instrument. Videos should be recorded in a single take, maintaining a steady camera angle without movement (no panning, tilting, or zooming).

In the video title, the participant's name, category, recording date, location, composer, and piece title should be clearly indicated.

There is no need for self-introduction or announcing the work's title at the video's beginning.

While professional quality recordings are not obligatory, clear and audible sound is essential. High-quality audio and video recordings enhance the judges' ability to evaluate performances accurately, potentially resulting in higher scores.

Failure to submit videos by the deadline will lead to disqualification of candidates.

All competition repertoire must be recorded consecutively at the same location and on the same date.

Performance video clips are not permitted.

Participants are free to choose to perform with a musical instrument, hire a musician as an accompanist, or use MMO as accompaniment.
Considerations for Track Selection

Choose a piece that aligns with the applicant's current performance level.

Each application allows for the submission of one musical work, which can be a complete piece or a movement from a larger work (e.g., sonata, concerto). If applicants wish to submit multiple musical compositions or participate in different categories/instruments/genres, separate applications are required.
Sight-Reading
Participants have the option to perform with sight-reading music, although memorization is not mandatory.
Score Submission
Participants are required to email us the sheet music immediately after submitting the video. Applicants are responsible for submitting their sheet music promptly. The International Music Competition will not remind applicants to submit their sheet music. Failure to submit the sheet music on time will result in disqualification. Please do not mail any physical sheet music. The sheet music should only be submitted in PDF format.

Participants are advised to adhere to the following important guidelines

The full application fee must be settled before processing the application form, and all application fees are non-refundable.

Incomplete applications lacking the required documents will not be processed.

If a member of the judging panel has taught a contestant in the past five years, that judge will not be responsible for evaluating that contestant for the sake of fairness.

The application deadline will not be extended.

Participants do not hold legal rights to audio recordings, photographs, or broadcasts associated with the Competition; all legal rights are reserved by the Organizer.

The International Music Competition will not entertain inquiries regarding other applicants or their submissions.

Contacting any jury member privately is strictly prohibited, and violation of this rule will lead to disqualification.

Entries must not contain violence, pornography, defamation, offensive language, insults, or any controversial or inappropriate content.

The Organizer reserves the right to reject entries that are deemed inappropriate, irrelevant to the contest's theme.

Participants under 18 years of age must obtain consent from their parents or guardians to register for the competition and submit their entries through them.

Falsifying age information is strictly prohibited for participants. If discrepancies are found between the applicant's registered age and actual age, the Organizer and judges reserve the right to disqualify the participant from the relevant event.

The Organizer retains the final interpretation rights of the competition's general rules and regulations. In the event of any disputes arising from or related to this event, the Organizer's decision shall be final and conclusive, without room for objection.
